A glyph is a symbol—especially a carved one—with a recognizable meaning. In the same way standardized meanings attach to words, images become standard, enabling bodiless words like no, which, and thing to be communicated to anyone with a basic understanding of 60s pop culture. Simplification is the driving force of communication, not true understanding. Thus, a simplification of Wittgenstein's Tractitus is that the language we use to name things or ideas is pathetically useless to describe things or ideas.
